Screw you

« on: January 09, 2008, 10:21:27 am »

I went with the timed day period this time in an attempt to balance the game for the various computer issues (can only get on at work, can't get on at work, etc.)  It seemed like a good idea, but after two days with no lynch, I'm not sure that I was right.  Give me your opinions, please.

Don't fret too much. People are probably just taking a different tack this time.
If folks were complaining about not getting a vote in or somesuch then I would agree, but this game is just following its own road so far.

Let it play out, it may end up being the best one yet.

I think a lot of us deliberately did not lynch this time around... and yea, a few may not have voted because of timing, such as only seeing the early part of the day, and then only seeing it after the day was over.  Since most voting happens in the latter part of the day, after much discussion, I think some people may not be voting because of the time, but I think in this game, specifically, a lot of us have decided to not vote so haphazardly.

That's why I voted to 'change the period' which I took to mean 'change when the day ends'... if that's not what you meant, well that's what I meant.  I think making the day end a little later in the day would be better, so more people can chime in at the end of the game day... maybe end it at your lunch time.  8am MST, means you will not catch the folks who come in only at work (like me) who may not be able to get on until some fires are out, or if they're on the west coast, and it's 7am... so if they only get on at work, they only really get to see the first 1/3 of the conversations (since most of the talky talky happens during USA work hours in the various time zones)

So maybe moving it to 12noon MST would be better?

But yea, don't fret... i think we're just making an interesting game... if they were all the same, it wouldn't be so fun!

You're doing a great job!

I like the idea, it does keep the game moving.  I think it's just a case of fence sitters and lurkers.

I think you could make dusk @ 9 pm and dawn @ 9 am or something like that.  Very little gets posted at night.  Night movers can get them in at night or first thing a.m.  The results are there in the morning giving them all day to discuss.  Also, for the most part you don't come in to 3 pages of posts to read in the morning.

I like the timed periods alot so the days don't get too stagnant.  As you said in the rules "Play the Game".  It doesn't need to take a month for the entire game to play out, unless we have a huge game.  I do agree that a night period later in the day might be good; however I have no problems with it now, just thinking of other peeps.

Kudos Bob.

I like the timed game.  But I like untimed ones too.

Better than OK, but not Awesome.  I kind of wish that activity in these games was only at night, therefore, I wouldn't even be tempted to come in while at work!  I think this might be my last one for THAT reason ONLY.  I love these games, though!

It's going well, Bobber.. no worries!

I think Mav has a good idea, thar.  Those times would work out pretty well for people in most any position of timed posting.

I am ok with it.  But I am in kinda a special situation this time around.  I am on TAD and only 'at' work on Mon/Tues from 6 to 3:30 Central.  So, some of my game play is being forced from home.  Not the best connection in the entire western hemisphere...I think that if people are going to play, they are going to find the time to do it.  It comes with the territory.

Keep on keepin on, Bob.  It takes a special person to run one of these. I know that you got it and I most certainly don't!!

An observation for what it is worth from an observer's perspective . . . I like what you are attempting with the time periods.  It would seem (in theory at least) to make the game flow easier to follow for players and observers alike.  From what I can tell so far, as has been mentioned by several players, is that many of the players are quite gun shy in this game after having their collective keesters handed to them by the mafia in the last two games with much of the damage being self inflicted.

I don't have the computer time to devote to a game so I can not put my preaching to practice, but COME ON GUYS AND PLAY THE GAME.  That is all that it is after all . . . a game that you learn to play through both successes and failures.  By setting back and doing nothing until you are sure, you are taking the best route to making this - potentially the best game you have had so far - turn into a quick ending flop.

As far as activity / inactivity goes, I think I'm doing pretty good, considering I told myself I would really limit my play this time!

Well spoke, Dino.  And it would seem that some of us are trying.  Not that it is doing much good.   Perhaps day 3 will be better.  We would hate to let the gallery down, after all angel
